I thought I'd blog about our journey with 21 day fix and other things going on in our life, cuz, you know, it's been a while.
Carson and I decided to do this program, and honestly we were super nervous about how we'd like it. Nervous if we'd be dying without "all" the food we would be missing. HA! Today was day one, and Carson couldn't even finish his right amount of portions. And people, we're eating on a deficit, which means, less calories than we need when doing the workout. I'm really shocked. Maybe it'll get harder as it goes on, our bodies will be used to it all and maybe we'll be hungry, but I highly doubt it! And even if we are hungry, we get an extra "green" container. All I know is that my belly is pushing out hardcore because of the amount of food I ate today. Carson asked me at lunch "are we doing this right?" because of the portion size he got.
But we both felt really good today! Lot of energy and I had a ton of motivation. I washed all the dishes and cleaned the kitchen because, I felt like it! Weird. ;)
I know a couple people wanted me to blog what we were eating because they are on the fence about joining. I'm no fancy cook, but these meals make it look fancy! (to me anyways, I'm more of an eat out 24/7 kind of girl).
So I was doing some research and kind of copied some meals from this blog: http://healthyfeelshappy.com/2014/07/28/21-day-fix-day-1/ so go check hers out too!
Breakfast we had 2 eggs and 1 piece of whole grain wheat toast. Carson got to have 2 pieces of toast (taller and a man = more calories than a shorter girl). 1 Red, 1 Yellow (Carson 2 yellow).
Lunch we had the yummiest thing! I didn't know healthy food could be this great. So we had quinoa, chicken sausage (got mine from costco, it's like apples and chicken sausage) and zuchini and squash. 1 Yellow, 1 Red, 1 Green. Carson got one extra Red.
Dinner we had a.. southwestern salad maybe? I crockpotted some chicken with a 1/4 of a low sodium taco seasoning packet. Put that over spinich, some corn, fresh salsa Carson's dad made, and cheese! 1 Red, 2 Green, 1 Blue.
We also got snacks, what? We both had apples and nuts, 1 Purple, 1 Orange. Carson had a full banana which equals 2P. I had half a banana and 2 teaspoons of peanut butter. I put that in our Isagenix chocolate shake and I couldn't finish it, it's sitting in the fridge. Maybe I'll want a late snack and finish it off. That was 1 purple, 2 teaspoons, and a red. Carson also had a shake and that finished off his reds for the day. He still has 1.5 greens to do, but he's not sure if he'll go for that. I was going to make him asparagus and that would be 15 of those suckers!
I am full and happy, but I am craving a treat. I'm kind of sad I put that banana in my shake, and should have done baked apples with cinnamon so I could feel like I was having a treat. Oh wells, maybe tomorrow.
Our Isagenix shakes were pretty good. I've never had a protein shake before, so it's not like it was the tastiest thing ever, but I can manage it. I was kind of sad to see the amount of sugar in it, and maybe I need to only do 1 scoop instead of 2. The serving size is 2, but I don't think I need that. Costco has some amazing meal replacement protein shakes and I might want to try theirs. They are only like 160 calories, 1 gram of sugar and 30 GRAMS OF PROTEIN. Wow. My mom drinks them and says they are good, so I might want to venture there after we finish up these canisters. We'll see. I'm excited to try the strawberry flavor though! I think Costco's are only chocolate, so maybe I could do a bit of both.
Speaking of Costco, we just got a membership there yesterday and seriously, why haven't I been shopping there through our whole marriage? Things are so cheap! I got our vitamins there and a lot of our veggies and such because we're eating a lot of them in this program and why not buy in bulk? This week I'm making a lot of similar things and I just really miss pasta so I need to be sure to add that in on one of the days soon. This week is chicken and veggies basically, so that will probably get old fast. What I love about this program though is that you can really eat whatever you want, it just has to fit in the container. They even have treats you can make that are 21 day fix approved, including a cheesecake!
My goal is to be a healthier me, hopefully improve my migraines, and turn my weight gain from the past couple months into muscle. I'm on a new medication that increases my hunger and weight gain, so I've gained 11 lbs far too fast. I wouldn't mind staying the same weight as long as it's muscle and my tummy goes flat again. I have a food baby all the time now, and any farther and I'd have to buy a whole new set of clothes.
Our workout today was the total cardio, which I should have done Tuesday's workout but obviously I chose wrong haha. Either way, it kicked our bums. It's only 30 minutes long but wow, it's jam packed. I bought us some new water bottles and weights and a foam roll to help stretch our muscles because we sit a lot of our day. I don't want a hunch back! ;)
So this is a lot of info, tomorrow's won't be so lengthy.
